Little Nikita was surrendered to the shelter due to a move. What we saw was a very underweight girl (32lbs) who was unable to put weight on her right leg. She’s about 2 years old and is just the sweetest little bug that you’ll ever meet. She’s a treasure of a youngster who has been a trooper with her hip issue. She loves to nap in the sun and enjoys soaking in all the sights and sounds. One of her favorite pastimes is sitting at the window and watching the trees sway. She is not good with the small dogs but does fine with the medium/large ones that are indifferent to her. Nikita has undergone and has fully recovered from an FHO surgery. She now weighs about 38 pounds. This little muffin is crate, house and leash trained. More pictures of Nikita can be found in her Facebook photo album.

Tyson – Groveland, CA
Poor Tyson! A neighbor’s cat wandered into Tyson’s 5 acres and was allegedly killed by Tyson. Animal Control did not open a case this time as it was unknown whether Tyson really killed the cat, whether it was sick or whether Tyson played too roughly with it, however, Animal Control will seize and euthanize Tyson if there’s another incident with a cat or animal.
Since Tyson can escape his kennel run during the day, his owner is afraid that there will be another incident as there is no way to control any animals from entering her 5 acres of property. Tyson is 5 years old but he’s still very much like a puppy – he loves to play and would be a perfect running partner. He happily lives with a medium sized mixed breed female. Tyson has chased the resident cat so he spends his days outside in a kennel run and sleeps in a dog house at night. He can initially pull a bit on a leash and he’ll likely need a refresher on crate and house training. He has not really been exposed to younger children but has been fine with teens. Anyone have room for this charming 50lb guy? Our foster/adoption application can be found here: http://
Tyson Fun Fact: He loves to chase butterflies!
Chica – Santa Rosa, ADOPTED!
Chica is a 40lb friendly purebred Bull Terrier. Her size makes us wonder if she is a large Mini Bull. Like all Bull Terriers she is a kid in a clown suit! She does all the fun bully moves that makes them so unique and special. Chica has shown an interest in agility and will go over jumps and is eager to learn and very food motivated. She walks beautifully on a leash and greets strange dogs respectfully. She has been to doggie daycare 2x and has been good with other dogs on a short-term basis. She is active but not hyper.
