KaylaKayla
Miss Kayla is in our program as she is not getting along with two of her family's five dogs. She's a very affectionate, energetic and people-social girl who's 18 months old (born 12/28/06). Kayla is crate and house trained (she'll come and nuzzle you for the latter), good on leash, and is a great little traveler. She was raised with children and is good with them. As Kayla's a world-class vermin hunter, she'd do best as the only pet in the household.

7/1: Although Kayla has been great with infants and toddlers, her hopeful family decided that having a dog plus a 2yo child was more than they bargained for. This stellar girl is back in our program awaiting her perfect home.

Zippy Zippy
Just a tad over a year old, Zippy came into our program as he was fighting with the resident male labrador. This dominant and energetic 53lb guy is housebroken and heels on a leash, but will a refresher on obedience training. His hobbies including playing fetch with a tennis ball and digging for gophers.

5/10: Zippy is actually quite a good dog and cracks us up with his random spurts of energy and spaziness. He takes to corrections wonderfully and has even tried to get Oski to play with him. He'll do best as the only dog in the household but may be OK with a submissive female. Zippy has displayed food aggression towards other dogs but not with people.

CookieCookie ADOPTION PENDING
The Cookie Monster is a delightful little girl who is very affectionate, outgoing and full of tail wags. This playful little one is about a year old and 40lbs. Surrendered at the shelter with her leg badly fractured where it meets the hip (this happened months ago, mind you!), brave little Cookie underwent an FHO procedure thanks to a caring bully community. She has recovered and is ecstatic about being able to run and jump without pain! Cookie loves everything about life and is great with children, cats and other dogs. She is house and crate trained and loves road trips.

6/9: Cookie's being treated for a demodectic mange flare-up. To prevent future occurences, Cookie will be fine with a natural treatment consisting of lifelong supplements (such as salmon/fish oil, Vitamin C and probiotics) to strengthen her immune system. We think it's a very small price to pay for such a special little girl!

Thanks to Roma, Jill H., Kevin & Cindy W., KG & Memo, Terry Houston, C. Martin and St. Malo, $1100 was raised for Cookie's FHO, spay surgeries and aftercare needs! Special thanks to Janice M. for the interim housing and for transporting this lttle doll from Fresno to the Bay Area!

We are eternally grateful to Animal Hospital of Sebastopol for giving us a huge discount on Cookie's vet fees, and to Bundocks Kennels for always being there to help our needy eggheads.

7/5: The wonderful family who adopted Ivy last year has been a long-time Cookie fan and supporter. When they saw the recent close-up picture of this sweetheart, they decided that she just had to be their newest addition. She's off to her new home and will be seen by their vet for a plan to beat her mange. We are thrilled that despite all the hardships faced during her young life, her future will be filled with love and comfort.

Scud

Scud ADOPTED!
Probably named after the Toy Story character, Scud was surrendered to the shelter as he was fighting with the family's male bulldog. He was not reactive with the obnoxious dogs at the shelter and gave lots of play bows to Ned the rescue. Scud will need a refresher in obedience and leash manners; he is people-focused and very outgoing. We love his energy and how he likes to explore EVERYTHING!

Almost 2 years old (born 8/10/06) and about 40-45lbs, Scud is housebroken and fully vaccinated. He seems be social with other dogs and has been ignoring slow-moving cats.

6/14: Lucky Scud (now Baxter) found himself a wonderful home where his new mom and dad are already doting on him!

Handsome Kolohe Kolohe [koh loh' hay] - Deaf ADOPTED!
Kolohe means mischievous in Hawaiian. Hmmm...wonder how he got that name? This young lad is about 1 year and 6 months old and 45 lbs. He knows sign language for basic obedience commands and is house trained (he'll let you know when he needs to go out and back in again). His current hobby is stealing, then stashing or destroying baby toys (but he loves to suck on binkies). Kolohe counts pugs, a Rottweiler, a Great Dane mix, a Yorkie, a silkie chicken and cats among his best buddies; and he enjoys being a furry jungle gym and pull toy for a 10 month old toddler. For more information on deaf dogs, we recommend The Deaf Dog Education Action Fund and really like its pages on deaf dog myths and deaf dog humor. Click here for more pictures of Kolohe.

6/9: Kolohe (now Kane, as in Sugar or Hurri) continues to amaze his moms with his boundless affection, intelligence, obedience AND goofiness! He's excelling in obedience training and has plans for a Canine Good Citizen certification!

ScrumpyDoo
Scrumpy ADOPTED!
Scrumpy was found as a stray, ID'd by his owner, then was relinquished to the shelter when his family decided that they did not have the time for him. So far, we've found this 4yo guy to be very sweet, affectionate and gentle. Scrumpy is about 50lbs and appears to be in good overall health. We had erroroneously listed Scrumpy as being 2 years old and recently noticed that his former owner listed his age to 4 on the updated shelter records.

Although Scrumpy nipped at the shelter's Assess-A-Hand while playing with a toy, this behavior has not been observed during his kenneling. He seems to be a good sport so far with cats and other dogs. Our kennel reports that he likes to cradle a blanket at night and nurse on it.

6/9: Scrumpy (now Seamus) went to a great home Saturday and is doing wonderfully!

Sedgewick
Sedgewick ADOPTED!
Sedgewick had 4 acres of land to keep him occupied so leash and crate training will be new concepts for him. He entered our program as he was fighting with the resident male dogs. Sedgewick is people-focused and quite well behaved for a puppy that's just a hair over a year old. He has his bouncy moments but will readily settle down for cuddles and naps. Sedgewick is house-trained and loves to spend his days indoors.

6/9: Sedgewick (now Harley) is having a blast being his retired dad's shadow. He took to a leash immediately and looks forward to his daily outdoor adventures PLUS monitored play sessions with his new buddy, an older Jack Russell Terrier male.

OskiOski ADOPTED!
Oski came into our program as she injured the resident female dachshund during one of their many ongoing feuds. Oski's about 15 months old and 47lbs. She seems to be good with most dogs, just not with another dominant female. She has peacefully lived with 5 cats and was good friends with the neighbor's 4yo son. Oski knows basic obedience, is housebroken, good with an easy-walker lead, and is about 60% crate trained.

5/10: Oski is a very sweet girl! She has little energy spurts but loves to sleep on sofas. Oski declined Zippy's invitations to play, choosing instead to hang out with people and spending quality time with them on the couch.

6/1: Oski (now Cookie) landed in a fantastic home with an adoring family that includes a bull terrier brother!

Maggie May
Maggie May ADOPTED!
Maggie May is a super exuberant little girl who lives life to the fullest and is a bonafide party girl! She's approximately 2 years old and roughly 45 pounds. She's goofy, outgoing and people-oriented. Not having been given any boundaries in her young life, she'll need basic training and a home where training and pack leadership are consistently maintained. Maggie May is bouncy and can get quite mouthy when excited, yet there's something wildly irresistible about her. She fence fought with a couple of obnoxious dogs at the shelter but was a good sport with a submissive female pit bull (see her video here).

Maggie May found a wonderful, active family who loves her wild and goofy ways!

Advance applications for foster/permanent homes are always welcomed!

Patton
Patton
The General has landed! Patton is a little over 4 years old (born 3/12/04) and is good with other dogs (he has peacefully lived with a neutered 2yo Doberman). He seems to be submissive to other dogs and will run from confrontations. Patton is house trained and spends his days loose indoors, following the sunspots for naps. He loves the den effect and prefers to sleep in a covered crate at night. He knows basic obedience but will need a refresher on leash manners. This big lug likes to keep himself occupied with balls and squeaky toys. His experiences with younger children have not been positive so he chooses to run and hide from them. His foster mom reports that he loves chasing ducks so he's probably not good with our small furry and feathered friends.

Please stay tuned as we learn more about this lovable 65lb guy.

Miss BullseyeMiss Bullseye
Newly arrived Bullseye is about 3.5 years old (born October 2004). She is in our program as she broke the jaw of a neighbor's female lhasa apso (easy to do given the size difference) who's been tormenting her through the fence. Bullseye is about 55lbs; she is house and crate trained and knows a few tricks such as shaking your hand and balancing treats on her nose until she gets the greenlight to eat them. She's been wonderful with her family's young children and has peacefully lived with a male lhaso apso.

7/6: I met Bullseye yesterday - she is a major sweetheart! She's adjusting nicely to what she's hoping is just doggy summer camp. Bullseye is gentle, calm and wags her tails at the kennel's little Norwich Terriers and Dachshunds.

LoriFresnoLori
Super sweet Lori's about 6 to 8 years old. She was a good sport with the dogs at the shelter and totally ignored the kitties there. This little muffin made a beeline to the children in the yard, reveled in the attention they gave her, then puttered around to introduce herself to the adults. She loves to put her head on your lap and lovingly nuzzle against you.

Lori's a petite girl at about 35-40lbs. We don't know yet if she's house or crate trained. We do know that this lovebug needs a refresher course on leash training. We wish she could talk as she was surrendered in a very dirty state with bands of old adhesive as though her body was once duct taped. The tip of her left ear is missing and halfway down the ear, it's completely split from a huge cut that was never stitched. Her rear legs seemed weak but that could be from her recent spay surgery. We're glad that she's in Rescue where she'll be checked out at our vet's this week. This sweet girl could sure use a bunch of TLC; we hope to find a foster spot for her soon.
